An interview we have made with H. E. Ms Nataša Bandelj, Permanent Representative of The Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations General Assembly as we were heading to the Africa day, 6th annual conference that took place at Brdo pri Kranju. Ms Bandelj seemed quite upset about Thursday's session and she wasn't afraid of addressing the issues that disturbed her country's peace and inner tranquility.

The Interceptor: Why is this conference so important tfor your country, besides you being one of the African countries?
Ms Bandelj: We believe the main objective of todays conference is the cooperation between African countries and Slovenia, but also broader European Union. This cooperation should be based on political, economic and diplomatic relations.
The Interceptor: What are the topics being addressed today and what is their significance for your country?
Ms Bandelj: Today the focus of the conference is enhancing the business cooperation, which will help emansely Slovenian business companies in Africa, but also the other way around. Hopefully the countries will take this opportunity and a lot of cooperation will begin to take place.
The Interceptor: Being present at yesterdays session and the result that was there at the end, what are you feelings or how would you describe yesterdays session?
Ms Bandelj: We do believe yesterdays session was odd, but a rather interesting one. Alah exists, we have seen a miracle of Russia, China and USA working together and cooperating in addition to Japan and some other countries that have sanctions towards Russia. We are very sad that we were not able to reach any kind of agreement, especially sad for the developing countries, as we have been again pushed back and given no access to important resources that others may get from space explorations.
The Interceptor: Why was your Draft Resolution 1.0 so pushed back, was there not enough lobbying done from you – the sponsors?
Ms Bandelj: The lobbying was there, but the biggest problem was countries still don't follow their national strategies and keep changing their minds every five minutes, so we were not really sure who is going to support us at the end. But again, this is their mistake, as we have not achieved anything at the end. We will definetely be more persuasive and try even harder next time.
The Interceptor: Your cooperation with Kenya seems to be going well, what is the actual history of this alliance?
Ms Bandelj: As you know all African countries have a long history of colonisation and we are trying to help each other overcome the current problems and challenges each of African countries is facing. We also share the same goals, ambitions and a lot of as said, problems. We want to see even more cooperation on the African continent and reaching common goals is easier if there is more of us striving for the same goals.
The Interceptor: The developing countries seem to be having a lot of issues when it comes to presenting a unified forefront, is this really the case?
Ms Bandelj: The main problem would be access and resources. As you know the developing countries don't have the financial resources to construct and build space stations and develop national programmes when it comes to this issues. Developed countries stopping us from getting access is a big problem and it also goes to show that they still want to keep all the power. Even though we have been opressed and colonized for many centuries by the developed countries, we could see this practice hasn't really changed a lot.
The Interceptor: What can we expect from your country and the next agenda item on the list – diversity management?
Ms Bandelj: We are currently cooperating with some countries and within a specific alliance. This is an alliance of developed and developing countries that will result in an instrument that will hopefully address the isues we are facing, with financial help and good practices. We hope this will go through, hopefully other countries will cooperate with us on these matters and future will look brighter soon. Thank you.
