''To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.''

Today, on the 20th of April the first mock session of the General Assembly took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences on the topic of child marriage. The delegates were given the floor for the opening speeches and the debate was quite vivid and lively, altough the content was a bit 'tedious'.

Child marriage is a violation of human rights, it breaks the international norms and standards, and the main reason for countries that still have a high percentage of child marriage is mostly due to high poverty, lack of education and long inveterated culture. This was stressed by at least half of the countries, however there was no real progress towards finding the solution through the debate.

Rules of procedure are there to be used and the countries did so rightfuly, taking advantage of questions and answers, that the representative of Canada gladly answered. We saw the representative of Russian federation offering help and trying to indulge in the problem solving, United States of America stirred some trouble to shift the focus, Sweden – the pillar of the human rights protector standing out not only for girls, but also for boys that are forced to marriage at a too early age, Kenya stressing the importance of national legislation and providance of education to the rural and remote areas of not only African, but also other countries.

'' How tired was the delegate of Great Britain
shows this picture, but wait... maybe the letters
on the computer were to small to see? ''

''The delegate of Chile was probably up late as she
was, like the representative of Great Britain leaning
on the chair in front of her...''

''Modern technology enables us to stare at our mobile
devices at all times, even when reading the opening
speech.''
The session on child marriage continues tomorrow and some drafts were already made, hopefully the content and the resolution of tomorrow's session will show productivity and full engagement of those that have been troubled by this issue the most.
