The Interceptor: Okay, before we begin, a sentence or two about yourself please.
G: I'm a student of international relations. The Interceptor: Something more fun, please. G: I like to read, go out with friends and socialize with new people. Loves Russia and everything about it.
The Interceptor: Why did you choose to apply for the position of PO?
G: Because I have 3 years of experience in MUNing and I believe that the one who knows the whole procedure can make the job for the delegates easier and the process much smoother.
The Interceptor: Do you think you'll be able to cope with the challenges of this role as it is said it's an important one?
G: Yeah, I think I'll be able to cope with that, because my co-chair also has the experience needed and the energy between us is crucial for effective simulation.
The Interceptor: Is there anything in particular you're looking forward to?
G: Frutiful debate and to see how people implement their academic knowledge, to test the knowledge and learn a lot, to show people that simulations are not that hard, the biggest issue is most of the time the fear of public speaking, but as you overvcome that, everything is easier.
The Interceptor: Can we expect some harsh sanctions for those who will disobey?
G: Well, it depends on what you think when you say harsh sanctions. If the people wil not follow the rules consistenly, they will be suspended for the break, one or two hours, if after that there will be even more breaking of the rules, they will get suspended for the whole day, which is a punishment by itself, not getting the points, since the simulation is graded.
The Interceptor: What do you expect from your partner in crime, that is your fellow PO Matic?
G: I expect from him to be prepared, but I know he will be, to cover my back if I'm late and I'll do vice versa for him, if I forget something that's crucial he will hopefully cover my back. I expect mutual cooperation and trust.
The Interceptor: Agenda has now been set for a while, do you think any of the topics may prove to be difficult – in a sense of reaching a common consensus?
G: Yeah, I think especially Antarctica and Outer space colonization will be difficult, because they are also difficult in reality. There will surely be specific claims of superpowers. Colonisation of space is an interesting topic as also in reality few countries have the capability and resources to go there, how about the others? I think we have quite a few strong people on the posts of P5 and other roles. I'm sure they will follow their own strategies and not seek cooperation. Mostly I hope everybody will have some fun and learn a lot.
The Interceptor: Is there anything in particuar you would advise to the fellow delegates?
Yeah, two things. Be prepared and do not be afraid to speak.
I'm really looking forward to the simulation to take place, I'm sure it will be a lot of fun, hopefully everybody will learn a lot, not only from the topics, but also from each other, I think this really is a best way to implement your knowledge in the practice.
